“Witness” University of Wisconsin - River Falls

It’s been five years since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This exhibition captures some of the defining moments of this transformative era.

From the isolation of lockdowns to the resilience of communities, from global protests for racial justice to the quiet strength of everyday life, our photography has been a powerful witness to the emotional, social, and cultural impact of the past five years.

Inspired by Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish’s “Memory for Forgetfulness,” this exhibition invites us to consider the role of artists and storytellers in preserving truth and human experience.

It is a space to observe, remember, and bear witness together—across differences and beyond the headlines.
